Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas announced on Thursday that all public and private schools in the province will have fewer summer holidays this year.
At a ceremony in Lahore, the minister noted that students have already suffered badly from the ongoing school closings due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
In a separate development, Minister Raas held a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce Standing Committee on Education. Chamber President Mian Misbah, Vice President Nasir Hameed and Serving Schools President Mian Raza attended along with other officials.
Raas addressed the participants and stated that stakeholder concerns about a unified curriculum would be taken into account. He also reiterated that school owners would be consulted on the proposed law on private schools and that the LDA law and financial package would be considered with sympathy.
The minister also ordered the formation of a committee made up of officials from the Punjab Textbook Board and the Serving Schools. School President Mian Raza expressed satisfaction at meeting the minister, saying that the school owners are waiting for a financial package and tax easing.

وزیر موصوف نے لاہور میں منعقدہ ایک تقریب میں ریمارکس دیئے کہ وبائی امراض کی وجہ سے اسکولوں کی طویل بندش کی وجہ سے طلبا پہلے ہی بہت پریشانی کا شکار ہو چکے ہیں۔
ایک علیحدہ ترقی میں ، وزیر راس نے قائمہ کمیٹی کے ساتھ چیمبر آف کامرس فار ایجوکیشن کی میٹنگ کی۔ چیمبر کے صدر میاں مصباح ، نائب صدر ناصر حمید اور سرونگ اسکولز کے صدر میاں رضا نے دیگر عہدیداروں کے ہمراہ اس میں شرکت کی۔
راس نے شرکاء سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ یکساں نصاب کے بارے میں اسٹیک ہولڈرز کے خدشات کو دور کیا جائے گا۔ انہوں نے یہ بھی تصدیق کی کہ نجی اسکولوں سے متعلق مجوزہ قانون کے بارے میں اسکول مالکان سے مشاورت کی جائے گی اور ایل ڈی اے ایکٹ اور مالی پیکیج پر ہمدردی سے غور کیا جائے گا۔
وزیر نے پنجاب ٹیکسٹ بک بورڈ اور سرونگ اسکولوں کے عہدیداروں کی کمیٹی تشکیل دینے کا حکم بھی دیا۔
صدر سرونگ اسکولز میاں رضا نے وزیر سے ملاقات پر اطمینان کا اظہار کیا اور کہا کہ اسکول مالکان ایک مالی پیکیج اور ٹیکسوں میں نرمی کے منتظر ہیں۔
