Good news has not come out of the hearing from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), as the regulator is still undecided about banning PUBG Mobile.
The ban on the hugely popular Battle Royale game was announced on July 1 after PTA received complaints from various walks of life and parents. A number of suicide cases and attempts to kill youths proved to be a crucial factor when, after the hearing on July 9, the internet agency decided to continue the game’s temporary interruption.
However, PTA was unable to make a decision on the matter after hearing the petitioners and commenting on the public. PTA had previously asked the general public to email their response to the ban to [email protected].
There was a hearing conducted in PTA on PUBG by authorized officers. The petitioner in IHC, councils of PUBG, Civil society representatives participated. They presented their viewpoints for and against ban on PUBG. Tomorrow(10 July) is the last date for sending comments to PTA by the public through email on the PUBG issue. The Authority will decide on the matter after due deliberation in the next few days.
The authority has confirmed that the final decision to extend or lift the ban will be announced in a few days. The Islamabad High Court had previously rejected a petition from a local PUBG champion to represent the country at a mega-gaming event. The court also instructed PTA to explain the laws banning the game.
In the past week, several Twitter campaigns have asked PTA to remove PUBG.

پی ٹی اے کو معاشرے کے مختلف طبقات اور والدین کی شکایات موصول ہونے کے بعد یکم جولائی کو بے حد مقبول لڑائی رائل کھیل پر پابندی کا اعلان کیا گیا تھا۔ نو جولائی کو سماعت کے بعد جب انٹرنیٹ ریگولیٹر نے کھیل کی عارضی معطلی جاری رکھنے کا فیصلہ کیا تو نوجوانوں کی جانب سے خود کشی کے متعدد واقعات اور اپنی جانیں لینے کی کوششیں فیصلہ کن عنصر ثابت ہوئے۔
اتھارٹی نے تصدیق کی ہے کہ پابندی میں توسیع کرنا یا اسے ختم کرنے کے بارے میں حتمی فیصلے کا اعلان کچھ دن میں کیا جائے گا۔ اس سے قبل اسلام آباد ہائیکورٹ نے ایک مقامی پبجی چیمپئن کی جانب سے دائر درخواست کو خارج کردیا تھا جو میگا گیمنگ ایونٹ میں ملک کی نمائندگی کرنے کے لئے تیار تھا۔ عدالت نے پی ٹی اے کو بھی ان قوانین کی وضاحت کرنے کی ہدایت کی جس کے تحت کھیل پر پابندی عائد کی گئی تھی۔
