The popular video sharing app TikTok has been banned by the Peshawar Higher Court for “immoral content“. Qaiser Rashid Khan, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, said the ban will not be lifted until its deplorable content has been removed.
The PTA general manager told the court that he had reached out to TikTok management to remove the immoral content but that his request was left unattended. Instead of the situation at hand, the Peshawar High Court noted that the app should remain blocked until authorities respond.
A man filed a petition in Court on Sept. 8, 2020, saying he turned to the court after the PTA and other institutions failed to acknowledge the “immoral and obnoxious” content displayed on the app .
He said that such activities are misleading the country’s youth and that suicide cases are also on the rise. The PTA and PEMRA were named as respondents according to an official handout in the petition.
The government had already banned TikTok in October last year because of its “obscene and immoral” content. The PTA stated that it issued a final notice to the app, allowing ample time to respond and develop, as well as an effective mechanism for “proactive moderation of illegal content online”.

مشہور ویڈیو شیئرنگ ایپ ٹِک ٹوک پر پشاور ہائی کورٹ نے ’غیر اخلاقی مواد‘ کی وجہ سے پابندی عائد کردی ہے۔ پشاور ہائیکورٹ کے چیف جسٹس قیصر راشد خان نے کہا کہ جب تک قابل تحسین مواد نہیں ہٹایا جاتا پابندی نہیں ہٹائی جاسکتی۔
پی ٹی اے کے ڈائریکٹر جنرل نے عدالت کو بتایا کہ انہوں نے غیر اخلاقی مواد کو ہٹانے کے لئے ٹِک ٹاک انتظامیہ سے رابطہ کیا لیکن ان کی درخواست پر کوئی توجہ نہیں دی گئی۔ دی گئی صورتحال کے بدلے ، پشاور کی اعلی عدالت نے ریمارکس دیئے کہ جب تک حکام جواب نہیں دیتے اس اطلاق کو روکنا چاہئے۔
ایک شخص نے ابتدائی طور پر 8 ستمبر 2020 کو ہائی کورٹ میں ایک درخواست دائر کی تھی ، جس میں کہا گیا تھا کہ پی ٹی اے اور دیگر ادارے “غیر اخلاقی اور قابل اعتراض” مواد کا نوٹس لینے میں ناکام ہونے کے بعد اس نے عدالت سے رجوع کیا تھا جو ایپ پر دکھایا جارہا تھا۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ ایسی سرگرمیاں ملک کے نوجوانوں کو گمراہ کر رہی ہیں ، انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ خودکشی کے واقعات میں بھی اضافہ ہورہا ہے۔ ایک سرکاری ہینڈ آؤٹ کے مطابق ، پی ٹی اے اور پیمرا کو درخواست میں جواب دہندگان نامزد کیا گیا تھا۔
