The death toll in Covid-19 in Pakistan has reached 7,000, with nine more deaths reported on November 9, up from 17 confirmed the day before.
The breakdown of deaths is as follows:
- Punjab: 2,420
- Sindh: 2,687
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,290
- Balochistan: 154
- Islamabad: 244
- Gilgit-Baltistan: 93
- Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 112
Several locations in Rawalpindi and Multan have been declared coronavirus hotspots and closed with immediate effect, according to the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.
The reports say that over the past two weeks there has been a steady increase in the percentage of positivity and prevalence of Covid-19 in Punjab Province, which poses a serious and imminent threat to public health, and that all possible measures are being taken had to be to control the spread of the virus.
