The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has reported a substantial increase in production during July 2023, thanks to the implementation of cutting-edge technologies for production optimization. This surge in output marks a significant milestone for the company and the country’s energy sector.
Production Enhancement Details
1. Nim East-1: Joint Venture with GHPL
Nim East-1, an exploratory well in a joint venture with OGDCL as Operator (95 percent) and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) (5 percent), is located in district Tando Allah Yar, Sindh. Remarkably, this well has contributed an additional 585 BPD oil, 7.4 MMSCFD gas, and 32 MTD LPG to the production. Starting from July 20, 2023, the injected gas is being incorporated into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, and its performance has been closely monitored until July 28, 2023.
2. Pasakhi-11: Boosting Production with ESP
OGDCL’s Pasakhi Oil Field, Well -11, in district Hyderabad, has witnessed a remarkable increment in oil production through the installation of an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP). The intervention resulted in an impressive 1,010 BPD oil increase, bringing the total production to 1,810 BPD oil. Ongoing monitoring is being conducted to optimize flow rates since July 28, 2023.
3. Chak 2-1: Enhancing Production with Rigless Intervention
Chak 2-1, an exploratory well, is already in production in a joint venture with OGDCL as the operator (62.5 percent), GHPL (22.5 percent), and Orient Petroleum Inc. (OPI) (15 percent). By employing rigless intervention with additional perforations, production saw a notable boost, including 140 BPD oil, 4.7 MMSCFD gas, and 11 MTD LPG. The injected gas into the SSGCL network began on July 20, 2023, and its performance was closely observed until July 28, 2023.
4. Chak-V Dim South-3: On-Production Development and Exploration
Located in Chak-5 Dim South Block, District Sanghar, Chak-V Dim South-3 is an on-production development cum exploratory well with OGDCL’s 100 percent working interest. Rigless intervention, featuring new perforations, has led to incremental production of 130 BPD oil, 3.8 MMSCFD gas, and 8 MTD LPG. The injected gas into the SSGCL network commenced on July 24, 2023, and its performance was closely monitored until July 28, 2023.
