New Zealand leg spinner Ish Sodhi believes Pakistani batsman Babar Azam is the heaviest of the “fabulous five” batsmen, including Indian Virat Kohli, Australian Steve Smith, black captain Kane Williamson and Englishman Joe Root .
Sodhi rated his “Fab Five” in an Instagram live session with CricTracker on Wednesday, in which he put the Pakistani captain with limited liability at the top.
“I will go with Babar first and then with Steve Smith. Then in the end Kane Williamson, Virat [Kohli] and Joe Root,” said Sodhi. “Babar Azam is the most difficult to roll among the fabulous five. He is really a great player . “
When asked by the host why he placed Kohli under Babar, Sodhi repeated that he always fought the 25-year-old batsman.
“I always find Babar very difficult to roll. We played against Babar Azam on some really hot days in the UAE and he played really well, ”he added.
Earlier this month, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody also said Babar Azam is a special talent that will be among the top five test batsmen over the next ten years.
“He [Babar] developed into something special last year. We talked about how good Virat Kohli is as a batsman. If you think Virat Kohli is good to look at, check out Babar Azam’s bat. Gosh, he’s special, ”said Moody. “I think in the next five to ten years he will definitely be in your top 5 [batsmen of the decade] without question.”
