The International Cricket Council has made a number of temporary changes to its regulations, including the ban on the use of saliva and the admission of non-neutral referees.
In addition, the cricket panel has now allowed cricket teams to replace players with COVID-19 symptoms during a test match. The replacement on a comparable basis corresponds to the ICC, which was previously approved for concussion incidents. It is up to the game referee to approve the replacement. The same does not apply to limited formats, i.e. H. For T20Is and ODIs.
The changes were made on the recommendation of the Cricket Committee led by Anil Kumble, taking into account player safety after a coronavirus pandemic. The ICC’s Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC) ratified the recommendations.
Teams are also warned when players use saliva to shine the ball. After two warnings, the bowling side receives a penalty of 5 runs. Referees must clean the ball when a player applies saliva to the ball for the game to continue.
When it comes to match officials, the logistical challenges of the coronavirus pandemic mean that cricket boards can now use the services of local ICC-approved panel officials instead of neutral referees. The teams also receive an additional DRS review in all formats, i.e. H. 3 unsuccessful reviews per innings in each inning of a test and 2 in T20s and ODIs.
