One million people have received freelance training as part of the National Level Training Program (DigiSkills.pk), launched by the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications through the Ignite National Technology Fund.
On instructions from the Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications, the Federal Secretary for IT Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui was Zafar Alvi, Project Manager DSTP (DigiSkills Training Project), informed about the successful implementation of the program via a video link.
The DigiSkills Training Project (DSTP) was awarded to the Virtual University of Pakistan as part of an open call that is based on 15 years of proven expertise in online distance learning.
CEO Ignite Syed Junaid Imam and Naeem Tariq from Rector Virtual University also attended.
The project manager announced to the IT & Telecom secretary that the project in its 30 months aimed to train 1 million people in 7 batches, with each batch being trained for 12 weeks. However, the goal of offering free online training was achieved in the 6th batch. 250,000 courses have already been registered for the 7th batch starting on May 27, 2020, exceeding the target by August 2020 by 0.25 million.
IT secretary said the DigiSkills training program is an excellent opportunity for young people to earn valuable foreign currency during the blackout period.
He praised the efforts of Ignite, Virtual University and the marketing and surveillance teams to achieve the goal early.

ڈیجی سکلز ٹریننگ پروجیکٹ (ڈی ایس ٹی پی) کو آن لائن ڈسٹری لرننگ میں 15 سالہ عملی مہارت کی بنیاد پر کھلی ٹینڈر کے ذریعہ ورچوئل یونیورسٹی آف پاکستان کو دیا گیا۔
