The colleges of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) will start online courses up to the basic course starting today (July 7). The decision was welcomed by the students and surprisingly rejected by teachers who complain about lack of training for online classes.
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood instructed the federal directorate to start online courses on July 7, but none of them had arranged for teacher training or provided facilities.
Teachers Resent the Decision
Several teachers did not like the idea of online teaching because of the lack of resources and training.
Some of them suggested that the FDE should have their lectures recorded instead of urging them to run online courses as they have no experience with them.
We have used a whiteboard and a marker to deliver lectures throughout our career. Now, all of a sudden, giving an online lecture sans whiteboard, will be a big challenge.
Another teacher found that not all of them have access to a laptop or an uninterrupted, fast internet connection – a requirement for online lectures.
If online classes were to be started, the FDE administration should have arranged for teachers training during these holidays.
A third teacher feared that a slow internet connection or repeated power cuts could interfere with the teaching process during online classes.
The teachers suggested that their colleges record their lectures on campus and make them available to students. After watching these lectures, students were able to ask questions via WhatsApp, he said.

وفاقی وزیر تعلیم شفقت محمود نے 7 جولائی سے وفاقی نظامت کو آن لائن کلاسز شروع کرنے کی ہدایت کی۔ لیکن ان میں سے کسی نے بھی اساتذہ کے لئے کسی تربیتی سیشن کا انتظام نہیں کیا تھا اور نہ ہی اس سلسلے میں کوئی سہولت مہیا کی تھی۔
اساتذہ کا فیصلے پر ناراضگی کا اظہار
متعدد اساتذہ نے اس سلسلے میں وسائل کی کمی اور تربیت کی کمی کا حوالہ دیتے ہوئے آن لائن کلاسوں کے خیال کو ناپسند کیا ہے۔
ان میں سے متعدد نے مشورہ دیا کہ ایف ڈی ای کو اپنے لیکچرز کو آن لائن کلاسز کے انعقاد کے لئے دباؤ ڈالنے کے بجائے ریکارڈ کروانا چاہئے کیونکہ ان کا اس میں سابقہ تجربہ نہیں ہے۔
ایک اور استاد نے نوٹ کیا کہ ان سب کی لیپ ٹاپ یا بلا تعطل ، تیز انٹرنیٹ کنیکشن تک رسائی نہیں ہے – جو آن لائن لیکچر دینے کے لئے شرط ہے۔
ایک تیسرے استاد نے خدشہ ظاہر کیا کہ آن لائن کلاسوں کے دوران سستے انٹرنیٹ کنکشن یا بار بار بجلی کی بندش سے تدریسی عمل کو نقصان پہنچ سکتا ہے۔
اساتذہ نے مشورہ دیا کہ ان کے کالج کیمپس میں اپنے لیکچر ریکارڈ کریں اور طلبا کو فراہم کریں۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ ان لیکچرز کو دیکھنے کے بعد ، طلبہ واٹس ایپ کے ذریعے سوالات پوچھ سکتے ہیں۔
