The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has announced a major move to a paperless digital system. This transition will replace the manual handling of files, records, and daily correspondence, bringing a new era of efficiency and transparency to the board’s operations. The project is being carried out with the help of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and its e-Filing and Office Automation System (e-FOAS).
The Digital Shift: How It Works
This new digital system is designed to streamline day-to-day office functions. It will manage file tracking, correspondence, and record management electronically. By moving these processes online, the board aims to reduce delays caused by physical paperwork and minimize the risk of lost or tampered files. While most of the internal work will be automated, a few processes will remain manual for now. The issuance of official certificates to students will continue to be handled through the traditional system to ensure security.
Ensuring Security and Transparency
With the move to a digital system, security is a top priority. Each branch has received strict instructions to:
- Safeguard their login credentials.
- Update passwords regularly.
- Avoid sharing access with unauthorized individuals.
This new framework is expected to create a more transparent system. It will allow for easy tracing and verification of records. The digital process will also make record-keeping more efficient, as similar systems have already proven successful in the Civil Secretariat and other Punjab government departments.
A Step Towards a Digital Punjab
The Lahore Board’s adoption of a digital system is a significant step towards a “Paperless and Digital Punjab.” This initiative will not only improve efficiency and security but also enhance public service delivery. The use of modern technology to replace outdated manual processes shows the government’s commitment to modernizing its institutions for the benefit of both its employees and the public.
