MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest addition to the mid-range mobile chipset lineup, the Dimensity 6100+. Reminiscent of the AMD Athlon XP, this chipset brings advanced features to the table. With Sub-6 5G connectivity, it offers a seamless mobile experience, although mmWave support is not included.
Impressive Performance and Display Capabilities
The Dimensity 6100+ boasts a CPU configuration that includes two powerful Cortex-A76 cores and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores. It is optimized to support displays with 10-bit color depth and a refresh rate of either 90 Hz or 120 Hz. Furthermore, the chipset enables “AI-powered cameras” capable of capturing images up to a resolution of 108 MP, with video recording reaching 2K at 30fps.
Enhanced Efficiency and Creativity
One notable feature of the Dimensity 6100+ is its “UltraSave 3.0+ technology,” which reduces 5G power consumption by 20% compared to other competing solutions. MediaTek’s focus on efficiency aims to optimize battery life and provide an enhanced user experience. Moreover, the chipset offers remarkable capabilities for capturing stunning portraits and selfies with its advanced “AI-bokeh” feature. Additionally, through a partnership with Arcsoft, MediaTek introduces “AI-color” technology, enabling users to express their creativity through enhanced color manipulation.
Expectations and Availability While details about these features remain somewhat mysterious, the full potential of the Dimensity 6100+ chipset is anticipated to be experienced once the first devices powered by this chip hit the market. These devices are expected to become available in the third quarter of this year, between now and the end of September.
