How to Check SIM Owner Name and CNIC in Pakistan

If you are a mobile phone user in Pakistan, it is important to know the SIM owner details of the particular SIM you are using. Previously, users could easily purchase SIM cards without completing the registration process, but due to rising concerns about illicit activities involving unauthorized SIM cards, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it mandatory for users to register their SIM cards in their own name to use network services.

Methods to Check SIM Owner Name and CNIC

PTA has provided several ways for users to check the SIM owner name and CNIC number of any mobile number.

Sending a Short Code via SMS:

Users can send “MNP” to 667 from the SIM they are using to get the SIM owner name and CNIC number of that particular SIM.

Calling or Visiting Network Service Provider:

Users can also call or visit their network service provider to check the SIM registration status and owner’s name.

PTA SIM Information Portal:

To know the exact number of SIMs registered against your CNIC, you can visit the PTA SIM Information website. Follow these steps:

  1. Visit the PTA SIM Information website.
  2. Enter your CNIC number in the provided field.
  3. Within seconds, you will receive the results in a tabular form, displaying the number of active SIMs categorized by operators.

PTA SIM Information Check via SMS

You can also check the number of SIMs registered against your CNIC by sending an SMS. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the text message window on your mobile phone.
  2. Type your CNIC without hyphens.
  3. Send the message to 668.
  4. You will receive an SMS with the number of active SIMs linked to your CNIC and the names of the respective operators.

Please note that sending an SMS to 668 incurs charges of PKR 2 plus tax. This method allows you to perform PTA SIM verification using your CNIC.
