Decision to open classes from 1st to 8th with a week delay in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has upheld the decision to open Matric and Inter classes on January 18 and universities on February 1, but has delayed the opening of classes from 1st to 8th for a week.

An important meeting was held today to decide on the opening of educational institutions in the country. The meeting of federal and provincial ministers was attended by provincial education ministers and special assistants for health. The meeting was chaired by Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.

Later, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood while addressing a press conference in Islamabad said that the cases of Corona are still increasing, education has suffered a lot during the last 8 months, the ability to learn goes down due to closure of educational institutions.

Shafqat Mehmood said that since the examinations of classes 9th to 12th are going to be held there and it has been decided that no child will pass without examination this year, therefore classes from 9th to 12th class will be held from January 18 Will start, and universities will only open on February 1, however, the start of classes 1 to 8 has been delayed by a week and will now open on February 1 instead of January 25.

The Education Minister said that the situation would be reconsidered next week and the NCOC meeting would further review the spread of the epidemic in the cities.

It should be noted that at the beginning of this month, in the inter-provincial conference of education ministers chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, in the light of the recommendation of the Ministry of Health, it was decided that the ninth to twelfth educational institutions Educational institutions will open on January 25, while universities will open on February 1. However, the implementation of the decision to open educational institutions was conditional on the decisions of the January 15 meeting.

بعدازاں ، وفاقی وزیر تعلیم شفقت محمود نے اسلام آباد میں پریس کانفرنس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ کورونا کے معاملات اب بھی بڑھ رہے ہیں ، پچھلے 8 ماہ کے دوران تعلیم کو بہت نقصان اٹھانا پڑا ہے ، تعلیمی اداروں کی بندش کی وجہ سے سیکھنے کی صلاحیت کم ہو جاتی ہے۔

واضح رہے کہ رواں ماہ کے آغاز میں وفاقی وزیر تعلیم شفقت محمود کی زیرصدارت وزرائے تعلیم کی بین الصوبائی کانفرنس میں وزارت صحت کی سفارش کی روشنی میں فیصلہ کیا گیا تھا کہ نویں سے بارہویں تک تعلیمی ادارے تعلیمی ادارے 25 جنوری کو کھلیں گے جبکہ یونیورسٹیاں یکم فروری کو کھلیں گی تاہم 15 جنوری کو ہونے والے اجلاس کے فیصلوں پر تعلیمی اداروں کو کھولنے کے فیصلے پر عمل درآمد مشروط تھا۔
