The Federal Minister of Education and Training, Shafqat Mehmood, has officially ordered the postponement of all scheduled and unscheduled exams across Pakistan to June 15, 2021 after the COVID-19 cases had increased sharply.
In addition, all O&A exams have been canceled and take place in the routine cycle from October to November. A2 students, on the other hand, appear as planned under strict SOPs for their exams.
The government has decided to ensure the safety of students and staff in public and private schools, colleges, universities and religious seminaries during the virus outbreak. It did so after the students hyped their request to the government to postpone the exams over the weekend, stating that it was due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.
However, the exams took place on Monday. Multiple videos on social media showed large numbers of parents gathering outside exam centers and large numbers of children in exam rooms.
On the same day, the Federal Minister of Education said that “those who are not satisfied with the current situation” could switch to the October / November cycle “at no extra charge” and urged parents and students to abide by the ever-existing Cambridge policy to use. Today, however, Mehmood revoked his decision to allow audits to be conducted after a special meeting with the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).
