A traffic police officer in Lahore was suspended for hijacking a driver’s cell phone yesterday. The driver reportedly videotaped the guard on her cell phone when he assaulted a motorcyclist on a busy road. The guard reportedly attacked the motorcyclist for not wearing a helmet.
The driver captured the entire incident, which allegedly upset the traffic cop, who then confiscated her cell phone. The commander in chief of the traffic police has reportedly suspended the supervisor for misconduct against the lady.
Following this incident, traffic police issued a press release detailing the version of the event that a young motorcyclist had an argument with an elderly rickshaw driver and the warden intervened to stop the incident.
The press release said the driver tried to capture the incident on her cell phone, prompting the guard to take the device out of her hands. However, the chief traffic officer made it clear that putting a woman in distress as in this case is unjustifiable and that the department must take legal action against the traffic cop.
