The federal government (NCOC) has decided to extend the school closure in COVID risk areas until April 28, 2021.
The decision was made on Tuesday at a high-level NCOC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar. All education and health ministers of the province attended the meeting. The Federal Minister for Education and Training, Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-religious Harmony, Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, and other relevant authorities were also present.
At the meeting, it was unanimously decided to keep schools closed until eighth grade in areas where the COVID-19 prevalence rate is higher. However, schools will also open nationwide to students in grades 9 through 12 at COVID-19 hotspots from April 19.
Shafqat Mahmood said the provincial governments will decide which districts will be allowed to close schools based on the high positivity rate. The decision can be changed in two weeks regarding the coronavirus situation.
Mahmood noted that the A and O level exams will also be conducted under strict COVID-19 SOPs as planned. He asked students to continue exam preparation and not be distracted by cancellation rumors.
On the other hand, Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has announced that all public and private schools will be closed for grades one through eight through Eid in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Multan, Bhawalpur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sheikhupura.

منگل کو وفاقی وزیر منصوبہ بندی و ترقیات اسد عمر کی زیر صدارت این سی او سی کے ایک اعلی سطحی اجلاس میں یہ فیصلہ کیا گیا۔ اجلاس میں تمام صوبائی وزیر تعلیم و صحت نے شرکت کی۔ وفاقی وزیر تعلیم و پیشہ ورانہ تربیت ، شفقت محمود ، وفاقی وزیر برائے مذہبی امور اور بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی پیر نور الحق قادری ، اور دیگر متعلقہ حکام بھی موجود تھے۔
اجلاس میں متفقہ طور پر فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے کہ ان علاقوں میں آٹھویں جماعت تک کے اسکولوں کو بند رکھا جائے جہاں کورونا میں شرح تعل .ق زیادہ ہے۔ تاہم ، اسکول ، یہاں تک کہ کورونا ہاٹ سپاٹ میں ، پورے ملک میں ، 19 اپریل سے نویں سے 12 تاریخ کے طلباء کے لئے کھلیں گے۔
دوسری جانب ، پنجاب کے وزیر تعلیم مراد راس نے اعلان کیا ہے کہ کلاس ایک سے آٹھ کے تمام سرکاری اور نجی اسکول لاہور ، راولپنڈی ، گجرات ، گوجرانوالہ ، ملتان ، بھاولپور ، سیالکوٹ ، سرگودھا ، فیصل آباد ، ٹوبہ میں عید تک بند رہیں گے۔
