Apple officially launched its iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. These phones introduce the most significant design and performance changes in years. For example, Apple has moved away from titanium and returned to an aluminum body. In addition, the phones have better displays, a redesigned camera, and larger batteries.
The new Pro models also feature Apple’s most powerful chip, the A19 Pro. The phones come with professional-grade photography and video tools. This marks a huge step for the iPhone.
A New Design and Display
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are built with a Series 7000 aluminum unibody frame. The exterior is anodized for more durability and a refined look. The phones are offered in silver, deep blue, and cosmic orange. Furthermore, both devices feature Ceramic Shield glass on the front and back. The display uses an upgraded Ceramic Shield 2. This new glass is three times more scratch-resistant and four times more crack-resistant than before.
The displays themselves are a major upgrade. The iPhone 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display. Meanwhile, the Pro Max carries a larger 6.9-inch panel. Both screens feature a ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate, an Always-On display, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. A seven-layer anti-reflective coating also makes the screen much easier to see outdoors.
Performance and Internals
Both Pro models run on the A19 Pro chip. This chip is built on a 3nm process. It includes a powerful six-core CPU and a six-core GPU with hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing. Moreover, a 16-core Neural Engine works to enhance Apple Intelligence features. According to Apple, this chip is just as powerful as the ones in MacBook Pro laptops.
For the first time, the Pro lineup uses a vapor chamber cooling system. This system delivers 40% better sustained performance than the last generation. The phones also have Apple’s N1 chip. This chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. The iPhone 17 Pro series launches with iOS 26, featuring the new Liquid Glass design language.

A Reworked Camera System
The iPhone 17 Pro models have a completely new camera system. The telephoto camera is now 48MP. It has a 100mm f/2.8 lens and a tetraprism optical design. This design gives you 4x optical zoom and up to 8x digital zoom.

In addition to the telephoto lens, both phones have a 48MP wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide camera. The front camera is new as well. It is an 18MP square Center Stage camera. This camera automatically adjusts its view for group selfies and keeps you centered during video calls. Video capabilities have also expanded. They now support ProRes RAW, Log 2, and genlock. They also work with Final Cut Camera 2.0 and Blackmagic Camera.
Battery and Price
Apple has not shared the exact battery sizes. However, they confirmed the Pro models have larger batteries than their old models. The company claims the iPhone 17 Pro lineup offers up to 39 hours of video playback. This is two hours more than the previous phones. In certain markets, Apple will ship eSIM-only versions. These are said to have slightly bigger batteries.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max start with 256GB of storage. They have options for 512GB and 1TB. The Pro Max also offers a 2TB option. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099. The iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199.
These iPhones should become available in Pakistan soon.
