Pakistan’s cricketers are getting ready for a big red-ball season. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore is holding a 20-day training camp. Eleven players, including former captain Babar Azam, have been invited to take part.
The camp started on Tuesday, September 9, and will run until September 28. It is being led by interim head coach Azhar Mahmood. This is his first time leading the Test squad. The camp is a key part of the team’s preparation for their upcoming home series against South Africa.
More Than Just Practice
The training camp is more than just normal net sessions. Players will work on their skills and fitness. They will also play scenario-based matches. This will help them sharpen their awareness in real-game situations. The goal is to make sure Pakistan’s top talent is technically ready and physically fit for the busy season ahead.
Who’s in the Camp?
The invited players include a mix of senior players and new talent. Senior stars like Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique are joined by young players such as Azan Awais and Shamyl Hussain. Wicketkeepers Rohail Nazir and Mohammad Salman are also part of the group, along with spinner Sajid Khan. The camp gives these players a chance to stay in good form, especially those not playing in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.
