Pakistan’s information technology sector received $ 35.1 million in foreign direct investment from July to April 2020, compared to $ 22.9 million in the corresponding period last fiscal year, an increase of approximately $ 12.2 million.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), inflows of $ 35.1 million and outflows of $ 2.5 million were registered in the information technology sector from July to April (2019 to 20). Net direct investment remained at $ 32.6 million during this period.
The entire communications sector (telecommunications, information technology, and postal and courier services) recorded net direct investment of $ 510.3 million, compared to minus $ 144.4 million in the same period last year. Inflows remained at $ 635.2 million from July to April 2019-20, while outflows remained at $ 124.9 million.
Net direct investment in the telecommunications sector remained $ 477.7 million, with inflows of $ 600 million and outflows of $ 122.4 million from July to April 2019-20.
Net direct investment in software development was $ 13.2 million, with inflows of $ 13.6 million and outflows of $ 0.5 million.
Hardware development had a negative net ADI of $ 1.2 million with inflows of $ 0.4 million and outflows of $ 1.6 million. Foreign direct investment in IT services continued to be $ 21.1 million and outflows were $ 0.4 million, registering $ 20.6 million in net direct investment.
The Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications released old data that net direct investment in the information and communications sector rose to $ 491.3 million in July-March of the 2019-2020 fiscal year, compared to a negative $ 113.7 million in corresponding period 2018-19.
The official statement said the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications took a number of steps at the direction of the Federal Minister of IT and Telecommunications, including political interventions that directly and indirectly contributed to the economy and the treasury.

اسٹیٹ بینک آف پاکستان (ایس بی پی) کے مطابق انفارمیشن ٹکنالوجی کے شعبے میں جولائی تا اپریل (2019-20) کے دوران 35.1 ملین ڈالر کی آمدنی اور 2.5 ملین اخراجات درج ہوئے۔ اس عرصے کے دوران خالص ایف ڈی آئی 32.6 ملین ڈالر رہی۔
(ٹیلی مواصلات ، انفارمیشن ٹکنالوجی ، اور پوسٹل اینڈ کورئیر خدمات) پر مشتمل مجموعی مواصلات کے شعبے میں گذشتہ سال کی اسی مدت کے دوران منفی 4 144.4 ملین ڈالر کے مقابلے میں 510.3 ملین ڈالر کی خالص ایف ڈی آئی ریکارڈ کی گئی ہے۔ جولائی تا اپریل 2019-20 کے دوران بہاؤ 124.9 ملین ڈالر کے اخراج کے ساتھ 635.2 ملین ڈالر رہا۔

وزارت انفارمیشن ٹکنالوجی اور ٹیلی مواصلات نے پرانا اعداد و شمار جاری کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ رواں مالی سال 2019۔20 کے جولائی تا مارچ کے دوران انفارمیشن اینڈ کمیونیکیشن سیکٹر میں خالص ایف ڈی آئی $ 491.3 ملین کی سطح پر آگیا ہے جبکہ اس کے مقابلے میں 2018-19ء کے اسی عرصے کے دوران منفی 3 113.7 ملین ڈالر کا اضافہ ہوا ہے۔
سرکاری بیان میں مزید کہا گیا ہے کہ وفاقی وزیر برائے آئی ٹی اور ٹیلی مواصلات کی ہدایت پر ، وزارت آئی ٹی اور ٹیلی مواصلات نے متعدد اقدامات اٹھائے ہیں ، جن میں پالیسی مداخلت بھی شامل ہے ، جس نے معیشت اور قومی خزانے میں براہ راست اور بالواسطہ دونوں کا تعاون کیا۔
