The first smartphones from Samsung for 2021 have been announced. Both are entry-level devices that bring updates over their predecessor models. The Galaxy A12 and A02 have 6.5-inch screens, large 5,000 mAh batteries and more from just 150 euros.
Display and Design
Both devices have a 6.5-inch HD + LCD with a water drop notch for the front camera. On the back, the design of the two phones is different. While the Galaxy A12 has a square four-camera module, the Galaxy A02s has a vertically aligned triple camera module instead.
Internals and Storage
Both phones have entry-level chipsets, but the Galaxy A12 has the Helio P35 SoC while the Galaxy A02 has a Snapdragon 420 chip. The Galaxy A02s is limited to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, but the Galaxy A12 has up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Samsung has not disclosed which version of Android the two phones will launch. However, since they are slated to be released in February next year, we can expect Android 11 to be at the top with One UI 2.5.
Camera
Camera upgrades can be found on both phones. The Galaxy A12 swaps out the previous model’s 13MP main lens for a 48MP sensor, but the 5MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor lenses are still there. There is now an additional 2MP macro camera too.
The Galaxy A02s, on the other hand, has a 13MP main sensor on the back with a 2MP depth sensor and a macro unit. The waterdrop front camera is a 5-megapixel shooter on the A02, but an 8-megapixel camera on the A12.
Price and Battery
The battery department has no differences. Both phones have a 5,000 mAh cell that is equipped with 15 W fast charge. This is an upgrade for both phones over previous models.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 will be available in February next year for 179 euros, while the Galaxy A02 will be available from 150 euros.
