Pakistan has reportedly rejected a $ 1.5 billion defense proposal from a French company because relations with France were restricted due to Islamophobia. According to media reports, Pakistan was in the final stages of the multi-billion dollar contract with the French aerospace company Airbus.
The Pakistani Navy reportedly wanted to purchase 27 EC725 Caracal multi-mission helicopters for its ASW helicopter program. Airbus was one of the last candidates to modernize the Pakistani Navy helicopter fleet with a good chance of winning the contract until the recent wave of Islamophobia engulfed European power and strained relations with many Muslim countries, including Pakistan.
However, Airbus reportedly dropped the proposal and the company will no longer be considered for the tender process.
The termination of the deal has given Pakistan a “tough choice” as it has to choose between the Chinese Z-20F and the American S-70B SeaHawk.
Note that Pakistan is among the few Muslim countries to have made an exception from the French President, Emmanuel Macron’s anti-Islam rhetoric and support for the publication of blasphemous cartoons of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Prime Minister Imran Khan has not only denounced the move with the strongest words, but has also written to world leaders calling for blasphemy to be condemned and criminalized.

اطلاعات سے پتہ چلتا ہے کہ پاک بحریہ اپنے اے ایس ڈبلیو ہیلی کاپٹر پروگرام کے لئے 27 ای سی 725 کراکال ملٹی مشن ہیلی کاپٹر خریدنا چاہتی ہے۔
پاک بحریہ کے ہیلی کاپٹر کے بیڑے کی جدید کاری کے لیے ایئر بس اس معاہدہ کو جیتنے کے روشن امکانات کے ساتھ بولی دینے والے حتمی دعویداروں میں سے ایک تھی جب تک کہ اسلامو فوبیا کی حالیہ لہر نے یورپی طاقت کو اپنی لپیٹ میں لے لیا اور پاکستان سمیت متعدد مسلم ممالک کے ساتھ تعلقات کشیدہ ہوگئے۔
اس معاہدے کی منسوخی نے پاکستان کو ایک ‘سخت انتخاب’ کے ساتھ چھوڑ دیا ہے کیونکہ اسے چینی زیڈ-20 ایف یا امریکن ایس-70 بی سی ہاک کے درمیان انتخاب کرنا ہے۔
نوٹ کریں کہ پاکستان ان چند مسلم ممالک میں شامل ہے جنھوں نے فرانسیسی صدر ، ایمانوئل میکرون کی اسلام مخالف بیانات اور پیغمبر اکرم (ﷺ) کے گستاخانہ خاکوں کی اشاعت کی حمایت کی بھرپور مزمت کی ہے۔
وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے اس اقدام کی نہ صرف سخت الفاظ میں مذمت کی ہے ، بلکہ انہوں نے عالمی رہنماؤں کو بھی خط لکھا ہے ، جس میں توہین مذہب کی مذمت اور مجرمانہ کارروائی کا مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے۔
