The federal government has decided to reopen the schools in the first week of September according to strict standard work instructions (SOPs).
The provincial education ministers announced this during a joint press conference on Monday after a consensus was reached between the federal and state governments. The meeting was convened and chaired by the Federal Minister of Education, Shafqat Mahmood.
The meeting reviewed the coronavirus situation in the country and found that the pandemic situation is improving every day.
As a result, it was decided to open educational institutions in the second week of August or the first week of September as part of SOPs. Sources said additional meetings will be called. However, a final decision is made with the approval of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).
At the moment, the NCOC has not agreed to open educational institutions. All educational institutions across the country have been closed for coronavirus blocking since March 13, and have been for five months. Online courses have been introduced to minimize the harm to the educational process.
However, the virus situation is now under control and the Punjab government has decided to lift the blockade in the province. In this regard, a notice has been issued that the block will be lifted from August 5.
