The Punjab Police has taken a significant step towards bolstering accountability and efficiency in their pursuit of suspects and criminals. The “Face Trace System (FTS)” a state-of-the-art AI-powered facial recognition system, has been unveiled to aid law enforcement officers in their quest for justice.
Developed collaboratively by the Punjab Police Information Technology (IT) wing and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the Face Trace System boasts advanced AI technology. With a comprehensive database containing over 18 million profiles, including suspects and criminals, the FTS promises to revolutionize criminal identification in the province.
Inspector General Police (IGP), Dr. Usman Anwar, officially launched the FTS, while DIG Ahsan Younas of the IT Wing played a pivotal role in data collection. The system’s implementation has already been extended to investigating officers across the province, streamlining the identification process and enabling instant verification of suspects and criminals through a user-friendly online platform.
IGP Dr. Usman Anwar and Ahsan Younas expressed their commitment to enhancing the system through training, integration, and feedback. The future vision involves linking the FTS with databases from other institutions, making it an even more effective tool in tracking down criminals.
