A special meeting for the Punjab transport sector was reportedly held yesterday, chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, at which he formally approved the proposed plan to operate green electric buses in Lahore.
The Provincial Minister of Transport, Jahanzeb Kachchi, attended the meeting. the secretary transportation; Transport specialists; and other concerned officials directed by Buzdar to take the necessary steps for the project to be feasible.
Buzdar also officially approved the plan to recruit transportation inspectors, sub-inspectors and sergeants in Punjab to ensure the proper oversight and balance of the Punjab transportation sector.
Regarding the project, Buzdar added that the buses will run on six routes, which together will be 103 kilometers long. He added that the Lahore Transport Company will be transformed into the Punjab Transport Company and that the buses will be operational in other cities as part of a public-private partnership.
Buzdar noted that the purpose of this state-of-the-art facility will be for the benefit of the people and that this initiative will significantly reduce Lahore’s pollution and smog.
He added that electric buses will also be introduced in Faisalabad and other departments and that the facility will be operating in Koh-e-Sulayman for the first time.
Buzdar also reportedly directed attendees to improve cleaning operations at the Orange Line Metro Train stations and their trains, stressing that there will be no compromise.

اجلاس میں صوبائی وزیر ٹرانسپورٹ ، جہانزیب کچھی نے شرکت کی۔ سیکرٹری ٹرانسپورٹ؛ نقل و حمل کے ماہرین؛ اور دیگر متعلقہ عہدیداروں کو جنھیں بزدار نے پروجیکٹ کے ممکنہ عمل کے لئے ضروری اقدامات کرنے کی ہدایت کی تھی۔
بزدار نے پنجاب میں ٹرانسپورٹ انسپکٹرز ، سب انسپکٹرز ، اور سارجنٹ بھرتی کرنے کے منصوبے کو باضابطہ طور پر منظوری دے دی تاکہ پنجاب کے ٹرانسپورٹ سیکٹر کا مناسب چیک اور توازن یقینی بنایا جاسکے۔
منصوبے کے بارے میں بات کرتے ہوئے بزدار نے مزید کہا کہ بسیں چھ راستوں پر چلیں گی جو اجتماعی طور پر 103 کلومیٹر لمبی ہوں گی۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ لاہور ٹرانسپورٹ کمپنی کو پنجاب ٹرانسپورٹ کمپنی میں تبدیل کیا جائے گا اور پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ کے تحت بسیں دوسرے شہروں میں چلیں گی۔
بزدار نے ریمارکس دیئے کہ اس جدید ترین سہولت کا مقصد لوگوں کے مفادات کے لئے ہوگا اور اس اقدام سے لاہور کی آلودگی اور اسموگ میں بہت حد تک کمی آئے گی۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ فیصل آباد اور دیگر ڈویژنوں میں بھی برقی بسیں متعارف کروائی جائیں گی اور یہ سہولت پہلی بار کوہ سلیمان میں چلائی جائے گی۔
مبینہ طور پر بزدار نے شرکاء کو اورنج لائن میٹرو ٹرین روٹ اسٹیشنوں اور اس کی ٹرینوں کی صفائی کے انتظامات کو بہتر بنانے کی ہدایت کی ، اور زور دیا کہ اس پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں کیا جائے گا۔
