Punjab Electricity Consumers to Receive Rs. 14 Per Unit Relief for Two Months

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has announced a significant relief package for electricity consumers in Punjab. The Punjab government will provide a Rs. 14 per unit relief to consumers using up to 500 units of electricity in their August and September bills.

Speaking to the media alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, the former Prime Minister shared that Rs. 45 billion has been allocated to fund this relief initiative. This move is part of the government’s efforts to alleviate the financial burden on the public amid rising living costs.

Nawaz Sharif also emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to further support the middle class by allocating Rs. 700 billion for a solar program. This program aims to provide long-term relief by promoting the use of solar energy, reducing dependence on traditional electricity sources, and lowering monthly electricity bills for consumers.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed this relief package, expressing his support for the initiative. He praised the decision, stating that the reduction of electricity rates by Rs. 14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units per month is a prime example of a people-centric approach by Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister.

“This decision reflects the government’s commitment to easing the economic challenges faced by the public,” the Prime Minister remarked in a statement issued by the PM Office.

This relief initiative is expected to provide substantial financial relief to a large segment of the population, particularly those in the middle and lower-income brackets, who have been struggling with high electricity costs. The Punjab government’s proactive measures aim to ensure that the benefits reach those who need them most.
