The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PTCB) has banned a children’s math book that has pig pictures stamped into it to solve basic arithmetic problems.
The book caused a stir when the parents were angry about this insensitivity. The situation escalated so much that the textbook authorities had to issue a clarification on Wednesday.
The notice noted that the “Infant Mathematics” booklet series was banned because it was published by M / S Sunrise Publications without PTCB’s prior approval.
The book contains material and content failing under Section 10(5), of the Punjab Curriculum and Textbooks Board Act 2015 under which printing, publication, selling or prescribing in an institution of any textbook or supplementary material.
[Anything] which contains anything repugnant to the injunction of Islam or contrary, to the integrity, defence or security of Pakistan or any part of Pakistan, public order or integrity cannot be approved.
The Board has also filed a lawsuit against the publisher for the publication and sale of the brochure without prior approval, which is in violation of Section 10 of the Punjab Curriculum and Textbooks Board Act 2015.
The Punjab textbook board also instructed publishers to stop producing, printing, publishing, and selling the book. In addition, each institution using this book was asked to adhere to the guidelines and to submit a compliance report within seven working days.

پنجاب کے نصاب اور درسی کتاب بورڈ (پی ٹی سی بی) نے بچوں کی ریاضی کی کتاب پر پابندی عائد کردی ہے جس میں خنزیر کی شبیہہ لکھی گئی ہیں تاکہ ان کو ریاضی کے بنیادی مسائل کو حل کرنے میں مدد ملے۔
کتاب میں ہنگامہ برپا ہوا کیونکہ والدین اس بے حسی پر سخت برہم تھے۔ صورتحال اس قدر بڑھ گئی کہ درسی کتاب بورڈ کو بدھ کے روز وضاحت جاری کرنا پڑی۔
نوٹیفکیشن میں کہا گیا ہے کہ کتابچہ سیریز: ٹائٹل انفینٹ ریاضی پر پابندی عائد کردی گئی ہے کیونکہ اسے پی سی ٹی بی کی پیشگی منظوری کے بغیر ایم / ایس سن رائز پبلیکیشنز نے شائع کیا تھا۔
بورڈ نے بغیر کسی منظوری کے کتابچہ شائع کرنے اور فروخت کرنے پر ناشر کے خلاف بھی کارروائی کی ہے جو کہ پنجاب نصاب اور درسی کتب بورڈ ایکٹ 2015 کی دفعہ 10 کی خلاف ورزی ہے۔
پنجاب ٹیکسٹ بک بورڈ نے پبلشروں کو مزید ہدایت کی ہے کہ وہ کتاب کی تیاری ، طباعت ، اشاعت اور فروخت بند کریں۔ مزید یہ کہ اس کتاب کو استعمال کرنے والے کسی بھی ادارے سے ہدایت کی تعمیل کرنے اور سات کاروباری دنوں میں تعمیل رپورٹ پیش کرنے کو کہا گیا ہے۔
