Pakistan Railways (PR) is making a significant shift towards solar power as a means to reduce operational costs. During a Facebook Live session, PR CEO Arshad Salam Khatak announced this crucial development and addressed various concerns raised by the public.
Restoration of Mohenjodaro Express and Bolan Express
CEO Khatak revealed that the restoration of the Mohenjodaro Express is set to take place on July 20, following the successful revival of the Bolan Express. This news brings hope for improved connectivity and convenience for passengers.
Improving Sanitation and Cleanliness Measures
Responding to complaints about sanitation on the Hazara Express train, Khatak acknowledged the challenges faced due to limited resources but assured passengers of the administration’s commitment to providing the best possible facilities. Moreover, he addressed the issue of unclean railway yards in several locations, attributing the problem to the failure of municipal authorities rather than the negligence of PR. He urged the public to cooperate with PR staff in maintaining cleanliness and refrain from littering on train tracks.
Enhancements in Train Services and Stations
Despite occasional disruptions caused by rainy weather, Khatak assured the public that the overall train schedule is being diligently followed. When asked about the restoration of the R0hi Express, he stated that such a decision is not anticipated in the near future. Looking ahead, PR has plans to introduce business class accommodations on the Millat Express, providing passengers with enhanced amenities. Additionally, in line with Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique‘s directives, PR is making efforts to improve the physical structure and facilities of trains by developing Greenline-style coaches. Furthermore, the evaluation of other trains and the restoration of stops at Narowal, Jhang, and Daur Railway stations are also underway, promising increased accessibility for commuters in those areas.
