Starting from August 1, Pakistan Post has implemented a significant increase of 50 percent in both domestic and international postal rates. The Ministry of Communication released a notification detailing the revised rates for various postal services.
Changes in Rates for Letters, Envelopes, and Aerograms
The new rates impact non-registered ordinary letters, envelopes, and aerograms. Notably, the rate for 20 grams has surged from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30, and the rate for 50 grams has risen from Rs. 38 to Rs. 60.
Revised Rates for Printed Materials and Parcels
Rates for printed materials, such as pamphlets, journals, periodicals, music sheets, maps, circulars, invitations, bills, greeting cards, and books (excluding textbooks), have also been modified. The charge has been increased from Rs. 2 to Rs. 5 per 100 grams.
Parcel rates have not been spared, and they have witnessed an increase as well. For example, the cost of sending a 1 kg parcel has escalated from Rs. 100 to Rs. 150, while a 3-kilogram parcel now costs Rs. 270, up from Rs. 175.
Impact on Urgent Mail Services
The revised rates also apply to urgent mail services. For deliveries within cities or between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the rates, inclusive of taxes and charges, have increased from Rs. 59 to Rs. 90. For 500-gram parcels, the new rate is set at Rs. 110, with an additional Rs. 45 for each half-kilogram thereafter.
