Introduction
The Edge series is Motorola’s return flight ticket to the Major League. The company stopped manufacturing flagships three years ago. The Moto series continued to focus exclusively on budget and mid-range devices. Until the Motorola Edge Duo was created.
The vanilla edition of the Motorola Edge seems to be well balanced and can also secure a place in the renowned flagship killer niche, while the Edge + sibling is a fully fledged flagship with the premium price tag.
The Motorola Edge, a very curved smartphone with the name and the look, has a large OLED with steep slopes and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The selfie cutout is quite small, and the panel is certainly already fascinating for us.
The vanilla edge is still up to date when it comes to choosing the chipset. The Snapdragon 765G is one of the latest Qualcomm mid-range chipsets, offering promising performance and 5G connectivity.
The chipset is one of the main differences between Edge and Edge + – the more expensive Plus model comes instead with the flagship Snapdragon 865 chip. The memory is also of a different kind – UFS 2.1 on the Edge vs. UFS 3.0 for Edge + – but a kind of silver stripe is that only the regular Edge offers a microSD slot.
After all, the quad camera on the back deserves a flagship, even if there is no OIS on any of the snaps. There is a 64MP primary, a 16MP Ultrawide, an 8MP telephoto camera for 2x zoom and a 3D ToF camera.
Typically for Moto, the Edge comes with a nice-sized battery and stereo speakers. It also offers a 3.5mm jack – a rarity these days – and runs on vanilla-looking Android 10 with promised important updates for the next 2 years.

The only thing we lack on this data sheet is water and dust resistance. The Motorola Edge has a water-repellent P2i coating on its internals, but also has much cheaper Moto phones, so IP67 may be more suitable for the target group. Well, the price of the Moto Edge is reasonable, so it deserves a pass for it.

The Motorola Edge comes in an elegant black box that contains the 18W charger and USB-C cable. Inside you will also find in-ear moto headphones.
If you look into the top paper compartment, you will find a thin silicone case that fits your new Motorola Edge. Because of the curved screen, there will be few, if any, third-party case manufacturers. Therefore, we appreciate the included accessories.
