Motorcyclists Can Now Enter Red Zone During Muharram

Islamabad Police Relaxes Ban on Motorcycles in Red Zone to Address Government Servants’ Issues During Muharram.

Islamabad Police has taken a decision to allow motorcyclists to enter the Red Zone through the NADRA Chowk entrance during the Muharram period. This move comes after a meeting between the Superintendent of Islamabad Police (SP) Security and the Chief Coordinator of All Government Employees Grand Alliance, Rehman Bajwa, where they discussed the challenges faced by government servants following the ban on motorcycles in the Red Zone until Monday (July 21).

Addressing the Issues of Motorbike Riders:

During the meeting, the Chief of All Government Employees Grand Alliance highlighted the difficulties faced by motorbike riders due to the restriction in the Red Zone, especially during Muharram. Many government employees use motorcycles for their daily commutes to major offices located in the Red Zone. The meeting was convened on the special instructions of the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan.

Agreeing on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

In response to the concerns raised, the SP and Bajwa reached an agreement on implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for motorcycle-riding government personnel. These SOPs will be applicable until Muharram 12, allowing authorized government personnel on motorcycles to access the Red Zone solely through the NADRA Chowk entrance.

Requirements for Entry:

To comply with the new SOPs, all motorcycles must have authentic number plates, and the riders must carry Ministry of Interior ID cards at all times. In case of any issues, employees have been instructed to notify the designated committee.

Restrictions on Bike-Sharing Services:

Simultaneously, the department has imposed a ban on private and commercial bike-sharing services within the Red Zone during this period. Citizens are requested to cooperate with the police in maintaining security and adhering to the new measures.
