Mohammad Amir, the former pace bowler from Pakistan, has addressed the recent media speculation surrounding his alleged pursuit of a British passport and participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
During a media interaction, the southpaw clarified that he harbors no desire to represent England in the future, as he has already showcased his skills while playing for the Pakistan national team.
When questioned about his potential involvement in the IPL, Amir responded by mentioning that there is still a year remaining until the next edition of the league. He emphasized that he will evaluate the circumstances closer to that time before making any decisions.
What will the scenario be then? I always take things step by step. We do not know what will happen tomorrow, so I won’t start thinking about playing in the IPL in 2024, Amir said.
Nevertheless, the 31-year-old cricketer did acknowledge that if he does acquire a British passport, he would undoubtedly make the most of any favorable opportunities that come his way.
It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Amir has been chosen by the Durban Qalandars to participate in the upcoming inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10 tournament.
Earlier this year, there were reports suggesting that a member of the PCB Selection Committee had reached out to Amir, urging him to prepare for a comeback in the national team.
However, the PCB later clarified that no official had made contact with the left-arm pacer regarding his potential return to international cricket, deeming the reports as “factually incorrect.”
