In a move to improve public transportation, the provincial administration introduced a fresh fleet of People’s Bus Service in Karachi. The announcement was made by Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Minister for Information and Transport, on his official Twitter account.
Real-Time Tracking and Convenience with Smartphone App
The newly launched smartphone app has significantly enriched the PBS experience for commuters. For iPhone and Android users, this app comes as a handy tool, enabling them to track buses in real-time, access bus fares, timings, and other essential information.
The government is actively preparing to launch e-taxis and is making rapid progress on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which will be Pakistan’s first BRT system operating on biogas.
Efficiency and Enhanced Monitoring
Memon emphasized that the administration can now effectively monitor the bus service in real-time, courtesy of the app’s advanced features. Moreover, the app also serves as an essential intra-city commuter service information hub, catering not only to Karachi but also to other cities in the province.
