In a successful operation carried out by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), the Karachi Police has arrested a group of four individuals in Yousuf Plaza last Saturday. This group was engaging in deceitful practices and robbing unsuspecting citizens by pretending to be riders for an online bike service.
Arrested Individuals and Confiscation of Incriminating Items
The individuals apprehended in this operation have been identified as Waqas, Kamran, Imran, and Muhammad Rahman. They have been taken into police custody, and during the operation, the authorities seized four pistols, two motorcycles, and helmets with printed logos.
Unveiling the Criminal Tactics and Past Records
According to the Sindh Superintendent of Police (SSP) SIU, Junaid Sheikh, the group specifically targeted individuals who had recently withdrawn money from ATMs. By masquerading as riders for an online bike service, they would then proceed to rob unsuspecting victims. Additionally, their involvement in various other street crimes has come to light.
Although two of their accomplices managed to escape during the operation, the apprehended individuals have confessed to their participation in numerous thefts across Shah Faisal, Nazimabad, and Korangi. It is worth noting that these individuals have a history of multiple arrests and have previously served time in prison.
