In a landmark initiative aimed at enhancing educational access and easing daily commutes, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has introduced a new Pink Bus Service under the “No Fare No Barrier“ project. This program, launched under the direction of the Prime Minister, is designed to support female students and teachers by providing dedicated transportation across key routes in Islamabad.
The new service will deploy 20 pink buses, specifically assigned to facilitate travel between rural and urban areas. This effort aims to address the daily commuting challenges faced by female educators and learners, ensuring a safer and more convenient travel option.
The designated routes for the Pink Bus Service are as follows:
- Route 1-A: Nilore to F-11/1 FGCH&E&MS
- Route 1-B: Nilore (Ziarat Stop) to Secretariat
- Route 2-A: Bhara Kau to F-11/1 FGCH&E&MS (via F-6)
- Route 2-B: Bhara Kau to F-11/1 FGCH&E&MS (via G-6)
- Route 3-A: Humak to Secretariat
- Route 3-B: Humak to F-11/1 FGCH&E&MS
- Route 4-A: I-14 (IJP Road) to Secretariat
- Route 4-B: I-14 (IJP Road) to F-11/1 FGCH&E&MS
- Route 5-A: B-17 to Secretariat (via Margalla Avenue)
- Route 5-B: B-17 to Secretariat (via GT Road, G-14)
These buses will operate during school hours to maximize convenience. The morning service will run from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, while the afternoon service will be available from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. This schedule aligns with school timings, aiming to reduce waiting times for students and teachers.
This new service represents a significant step towards addressing transportation challenges and enhancing educational support for women in Islamabad, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving access and safety in public transportation.
