Introduction
The Huawei Mate Xs is finally here! We have it in our hands, conveniently from our office, without employees of the exhibition area looking over our shoulders and guiding us carefully through our experiences.
The arrival of the Mate Xs is a remarkable moment – another foldable high-end device will hit the market and into the hands of the consumer.
The original model was never released in western markets. The Huawei Mate Xs is the second version – an updated version that appears in even tougher times when Huawei is still under the U.S. trade ban and COVID-19 is spreading like wildfire around the world. Even Huawei itself admits that this device cost a lot of money.
However, this takes away from the importance of this milestone. Every new foldable device that arrives goes new ways and explores new possibilities, while offering different and novel user experiences. It doesn’t get any more exciting for tech reviewers like us.

Unboxing the Huawei Mate Xs
When you pay that much money for a phone, you rightly expect a certain level of experience across the board. Packaging and presentation are not things that a company, especially not one of Huawei, would do without in a “halo product”.
The Mate Xs is delivered in a large, elaborate box made of thick cardboard that is completely soft.
The interior is made of the same soft, almost silky material and lots of boxes to split everything up, as well as a solid tray for the Mate Xs. It unfolds ships and is well protected.
Regarding the accessory pack, you get a pair of white USB Type-C buds in a box. These are reminiscent of the characteristic Apple design that hangs on the earlobe instead of getting into the canal.
Also in the box – there is a case for your shiny new Mate Xs. We were excited to see what kind of case Huawei would develop for a device with more screen than anything, and that’s what you can imagine – a thin piece of plastic to be used as a bumper case. It is attached to the phone with a set of glue sticks and runs on all edges, including the thicker piece of metal.
There’s not much you can do to protect a phone in this form factor from accidental drops. As far as we know, Huawei should also offer a kind of carrying case in which you can stow the phone so that it is not scratched in your pocket.

لیکن اس سے اس سنگ میل کی اہمیت دور نہیں ہوگی۔ ہر نیا فولڈ آلہ جو پہنچتا ہے اس سڑنا کو توڑ دیتا ہے اور نئے امکانات ڈھونڈتا ہے جبکہ مختلف اور جدید صارف کے تجربات پیش کرتا ہے۔ ہم جیسے ٹیک جائزہ لینے والوں کے لیے اس سے زیادہ دلچسپ بات نہیں ہوتی ہے۔
