WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform owned by Meta, has started rolling out the ability to edit sent messages on both Android and iOS devices. After undergoing beta testing on mobile apps and WhatsApp Web, the feature is now available to users on iOS and Android. Similar to Apple’s Messages app, this new feature allows users to edit messages within a short time window after sending them on WhatsApp.
Edit Messages with a Time Limit
WhatsApp allows unlimited edits for text messages, but there is a time limit of 15 minutes. Users can only edit messages sent from their own accounts within this time frame, and recipients must be using a recent version of WhatsApp. Currently, editing messages on WhatsApp Web and desktop apps is not supported in the stable versions of these applications.
How to Edit WhatsApp Messages on Android and iOS
To utilize the edit messages feature on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the message you want to edit.
- On iOS, select “Edit” from the message context menu; on Android, tap the three-dot menu at the top right corner of the screen.
- Enter your desired changes in the text field.
- Tap the green check mark button next to the text box to save your edited message.
