Haval has recently released the official photographs of its highly anticipated large SUV, the H5. This new SUV is set to compete directly with popular models such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, GAC GS 8, GWM Tank 500, and other similar full-size SUVs.
Haval H5: From Compact SUV to Rugged and Powerful
Originally introduced as a compact SUV built on the pickup platform of Great Wall Motors (GWM), the Haval H5 has undergone a significant transformation. After nearly five years, Haval has rebranded the H5 as their first entry into the large SUV segment.
Powerful Engine Options and Potential Hybrid Variant
The Haval H5 offers two engine options to cater to different preferences. Customers can choose between a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, generating an impressive 163 horsepower, or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which delivers up to 221 hp. CarNewsChina also speculates that the SUV may feature a four-wheel drive (4WD) drivetrain. Moreover, there are rumors of a potential hybrid variant equipped with GWM’s Hi4 Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) system.
The exterior design of the H5 draws inspiration from American SUVs, featuring a commanding presence. The front fascia showcases a large trapezoidal grille with two bold horizontal chrome-plated trim sections, exuding an intimidating aura. The raised ridges on the engine cover and roof contribute to the SUV’s rugged and robust appearance. A blackened D-pillar, elegant multi-spoke alloy wheels, and distinctive vertical taillights connected by a black decorative strip complete the stylish side profile.
Inside the H5, the unveiled interior photo reveals a modern three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a complete LCD instrument cluster, and a floating central control display, providing a sleek and high-tech cabin experience.
The Haval H5 is expected to make its debut in the second half of 2023, with an estimated price range of Rs. 4.6 million to Rs. 5.7 million. While the specific features are currently unknown, the pricing suggests that the initial release of the H5 will not be positioned as a high-end luxury product. However, it is possible that more luxurious variants will be introduced in the future.
