GWM (Great Wall Motors) made headlines on July 10 with the unveiling of its highly anticipated third-generation Haval H6 SUV. The new H6 boasts a distinctive and somewhat controversial design, particularly at the front, where the previous large grille has been replaced by a striking closed beak. Despite its resemblance to a mid-cycle facelift, reports insist that this is indeed the latest-generation H6 model.
Best-Selling Model in China
Haval, known for its lineup of popular models such as H6, Big Dog, Shenshou, Chitu, Jolion, and H9, has experienced tremendous success in the Chinese market. Among these offerings, the H6 stands out as the brand’s best-selling model, having sold an impressive 75,869 units from January to May, with 14,793 units sold in May alone.
Powerful Engine Options and Striking Features
The upcoming Haval H6 will be available with two engine options: a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 2.0T variant is expected to deliver a robust 211 horsepower, while the 1.5T model will offer around 150 horsepower. Furthermore, Haval’s H6 PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) will incorporate GWM’s cutting-edge Hi4 hybrid technology, resulting in a combined power output exceeding 260 horsepower.
In terms of its exterior design, the new H6 diverges from its predecessors with the absence of joint-strip taillights, as revealed in photos published on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website. Instead, black strips now connect the taillights, and the rear features rectangular exhaust outlets. Additional noteworthy features include the availability of 18-inch or 19-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof.
As the formal launch of the new Haval H6 approaches, enthusiasts eagerly await further details and specifications about this highly anticipated SUV.
