The Kurram tribal district is witnessing a violent dispute between residents of Dandar Sehra and Boshehra, with the death toll now standing at 11. The clashes, which began on July 7, have resulted in over 70 injuries as both sides employ heavy and automatic weapons in a bid to inflict maximum damage. The situation has created widespread fear in the area and has led to road blockades, causing a shortage of essential goods.
Seeking a resolution to the ongoing bloody conflict, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has formally requested the federal government to deploy additional military and paramilitary troops under Article 245. The aim is to bring an end to the clashes between inhabitants of Dandar Sehra and Boshehra, which have left a trail of death and destruction, as well as causing a scarcity of essential supplies.
Faisal Karim Kundi, a leader from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has called upon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to intervene in the escalating conflict in Kurram. Kundi warns that without swift action, the situation may deteriorate further, potentially leading to a breakdown of law and order. He emphasizes the need for the PM to convene a jirga (tribal assembly) to address the underlying issues and dispel the notion that the conflict is rooted in sectarian tensions.
