The board of directors of BankIslami has decided to promote Rizwan Ata, a senior member of the bank’s team, to the position of CEO and President. Rizwan Ata, who currently serves as Group Head, Distribution, will take on this role for a period of three years. This appointment will be effective from September 29, 2023, and will see him succeed Syed Amir Ali, who is leaving to join Meezan Bank as the deputy CEO. However, Rizwan Ata’s appointment is subject to the approval of the State Bank of Pakistan.
In the meantime, Rizwan Ata has already been promoted to the position of Deputy CEO and President of BankIslami, effective immediately.
Rizwan Ata boasts a wealth of experience, having worked in the banking industry for over two decades, including stints at Bank Alfalah (Islamic Banking Division) and Meezan Bank.
Additionally, the board has elected Suleman Lalani as the chairman of the bank. Suleman Lalani is also the vice president at Jehangir Siddiqi and Co Ltd.
