In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has dismantled a drug-smuggling ring that was employing ingenious tactics to transport narcotics across different regions of Punjab. A highly successful raid conducted on the outskirts of Lahore resulted in the seizure of both a drone and a substantial amount of illegal drugs.
Unraveling the Drug Operation
Following the raid’s success, the ANF has managed to identify four crucial individuals involved in the drug operation. To bring them to justice, further raids are currently underway. Interestingly, among the suspects under scrutiny, two have been traced back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Drone Capabilities and Usage
The captured drone had a remarkable capacity to carry up to 2 kg of drugs. However, the extent of its range during a single smuggling journey remains uncertain.
Exploiting Drone Technology for Illegal Activities
These criminals had been cunningly exploiting drone technology to smuggle drugs discreetly in and around Lahore. This method allowed them to evade traditional law enforcement measures.
Previous Incident and ANF’s Preventive Measures
In a similar incident that occurred earlier this month, the Lahore police confiscated a drone used for drug smuggling. The drone had crashed in the fields of the Kahna area, where vigilant local residents discovered its illicit cargo.
Moreover, an ANF spokesperson from Rawalpindi headquarters revealed that they successfully thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle drugs using drones. This incident sheds light on the emerging and innovative method of drug trafficking that law enforcement agencies are now confronted with.
