The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has launched a strong offensive against corruption within the Lahore Development Authority (LDA). In a recent crackdown, ACE has apprehended four LDA officers for accepting bribes in exchange for unlawfully issuing completion certificates.
Arrests and Allegations of Bribery
The implicated individuals include Director Salman Mehfooz, Deputy Director Tayyab Ali, Assistant Director Inayatullah, and Clerk Ijaz Sattar. It is alleged that they accepted a bribe of Rs. 3 million to authorize a plan, leading to an estimated loss of Rs. 86 million to the exchequer.
Suspension of Plot Allocation and Ongoing Investigation
In addition to the arrests, ACE has put a halt to the allocation of 27 plots in Johar Town, Lahore, with a total worth of Rs. 1.4 billion. These plots were fraudulently obtained using forged documents. Shahid Munir is currently under investigation for allegedly orchestrating the acquisition of these plots through falsified documentation.
