Budget 2020-21 Worth Rs. 7.5 Trillion to be Announced Today

The federal government is expected to present the budget for the 2020-21 financial year with an estimated expenditure of around Rs. 7.5 trillion today.

The National Assembly is already at a meeting in which the budget for the 2020-21 financial year is presented.

This year, the budget was formulated taking into account the impact of COVID-19 on people and businesses in the country. Therefore, the main focus of the document would be to alleviate people’s suffering and strengthen businesses, the state media agency reported.

In addition to budget management, the mobilization of revenues, measures for economic stabilization and growth, reduction of non-development expenditure; The increase in exports in addition to job creation and a people-friendly policy for the country’s socio-economic prosperity would be included in the budget.

In addition to introducing reforms to improve governance and promote the private sector for investment, the focus will also be on the development of the social sector.

On the revenue side, although no new taxes are introduced, the government will introduce measures to improve the tax collection system, broaden the tax base, and provide relief for taxpayers. According to sources, strong revenue generation will play a vital role in achieving economic growth goals.

The government is likely to set the revenue target to Rs. 5.1 trillion for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The budget was drawn up in close coordination between all departments and ministries involved in budget-related events.

Minister of Finance and Revenue Adviser, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, launched the Pakistani Economic Survey (2019-20), which highlighted that the country’s economy stabilized before the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19), which caused losses of around Rs. 3000 billion and derailed it towards negative growth of 0.38 percent.

The survey found that agricultural growth also declined to 2.67 percent, while the industrial sector saw negative growth of 2.64 percent and the service sector saw negative growth of 0.59 percent in the past year.

ذرائع آمدنی کے سلسلے میں ، اگرچہ کوئی نیا ٹیکس متعارف نہیں کیا جائے گا ، لیکن حکومت ٹیکس وصولی کے نظام میں بہتری لانے ، ٹیکسوں کی بنیاد کو وسیع کرنے اور ٹیکس دہندگان کو سہولت فراہم کرنے کے اقدامات متعارف کرے گی ، ذرائع کا کہنا ہے کہ مستحکم محصولات کی پیداوار ایک اہم کردار ادا کرے گی۔ معاشی نمو کے اہداف کے حصول میں کردار۔
