Karachi University’s Incubation Center and Tech Park Plans

Federal Minister for Information Technology & Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, announced that a significant investment of US $7.1 billion has been made in Pakistan’s telecommunication sector. Moreover, the sector has earned billions of rupees in revenue.

Health Incubator and Science & Technology Park Collaboration

The minister served as the Chief Guest during the signing ceremony of a MoU to establish the Health Incubator and Science & Technology Park. In the ICCBS of Karachi University (KU) on Tuesday. The MoU was signed by Syed Junaid Imam, Member Ministry of IT & Telecom, and Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary, Director ICCBS.

Digitization of Karachi University’s Examination Centre

Upon the request of KU Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, the IT Minister pledged to digitalize the Examination Centre of Karachi University. He directed the Member IT and CEO of the NITB to coordinate with the university management for the implementation of this initiative.

Advancing Healthcare and Technology

According to the MoU, the Pakistan Software Export Board will establish a Health Incubator and Science and Technology Park within ICCBS at Karachi University.

This integration of information and communication technology with academia is expected to significantly benefit medical start-ups. And provide students with access to the digital world.

Federal IT Minister emphasized that the transformative steps taken during their ministry should have been implemented much earlier. Pakistani youths possess unique talents and competencies, and it is essential to encourage and engage them in the technology sector. Providing opportunities and support is crucial to their growth.

He also highlighted that MOITT, through the Universal Service Fund, has invested Rs. 77.8 billion in 83 projects to provide broadband services in remote areas across Pakistan. This initiative aims to facilitate the rural population in accessing the digital world and performing their work smoothly.

Furthermore, the minister shared that the smartphone manufacturing bill has been passed in the assembly, leading to the involvement of 28 companies. Including Samsung and Nokia, in the mobile phone production within the country.

Empowering Pakistani Students with Scholarships

Amin Ul Haque also revealed that Google has established its office in Pakistan and provided 15,000 scholarships to Pakistani students last year.

This year, the number of scholarships has increased to 45,000. And it is projected to reach an impressive 450,000 by 2024.
