Federal Government Raises Minimum Wage to Rs. 32,000 in Islamabad

In response to the recent surge in inflation, the Office of the Chief Commissioner, Directorate of Industries & Labour Welfare, Islamabad, takes decisive action to enhance the well-being of workers by introducing a significant minimum wage notification for all industrial and commercial establishments within the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

New Minimum Wages for Workers

Effective from 1 July 2023, the latest minimum monthly wages for adult unskilled workers employed in industrial undertakings within the ICT have been set at Rs. 32,000 for an eight-hour working day. Even juvenile workers, as permitted by law, will receive a minimum wage of Rs. 32,000 for their eight-hour workday.

A Step Towards Fairness and Equity

This wage increment is designed to establish a fair and just wage structure, reflecting the government’s unwavering commitment to labor welfare and human rights within the nation’s capital.

Promoting Inclusivity and Economic Stability

Through the implementation of this new wage framework, the government aims to foster an inclusive and equitable work environment, promoting economic stability and social development in the region. This move is a response to the prevailing economic challenges, as the government strives to provide better support to workers amid the soaring cost of living.
