CDA Completes 2 out of 8 Bridges on Karnal Sher Khan (IJP Road)

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken significant strides to enhance pedestrian safety on Karnal Sher Khan Avenue (formerly known as IJP Road). With the completion of two pedestrian bridges out of eight, residents living near the avenue can now cross it with ease.

Improving Safety with Pedestrian Bridges

To alleviate the challenges faced by pedestrians in crossing the busy Karnal Sher Khan Avenue (KSKA), the CDA has constructed two pedestrian bridges. These bridges offer a safe and efficient way for people to traverse the road and avoid potential accidents.

Remaining Bridges Underway

The CDA remains committed to enhancing safety on KSKA. Construction of the remaining six pedestrian bridges is already in progress and is expected to be completed soon. Once finished, these bridges will further facilitate smooth and secure pedestrian movement.

Federal Support for Pedestrian Safety

To finance this essential project, the CDA requested Rs. 500 million from the federal government through the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP). This financial support reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of pedestrian safety and their dedication to improving infrastructure across the city.

The federal government and CDA are teaming up on projects aimed at enhancing safety and convenience for the public. A civic agency spokesperson informed the media:

The pedestrian bridges are being installed at the Karnal Sher Khan Avenue to not only allow a safe walkway for pedestrians but also to avert accidents and maintain the flow of traffic along this busy road. The pedestrian bridges were installed late night to ensure this work never created any kind of problem in smooth flow of the traffic. Remaining six bridges will also soon be installed after which main concerns of the pedestrians will be resolved.
