OpenAI‘s innovative tool, ChatGPT, which saw its inception in November, has rapidly amassed a substantial user base, effectively competing with the growth of Threads. Now, OpenAI is all set to make its debut in the world of Android applications.
Expanding to Android Platform
Following the successful launch of its free iOS version for iPhones and iPads a few months ago, OpenAI took to Twitter to announce the impending arrival of ChatGPT on Android. Though the exact release date remains undisclosed, interested users can already pre-order the app from the Google Play Store, ensuring they get it as soon as it becomes available.
Meeting User Expectations
While Google’s Bard chatbot lacks dedicated mobile apps and relies on a web-based interface, those eagerly awaiting an app for ChatGPT can find solace in Microsoft’s Bing app. Microsoft’s offering has been accessible on both Android and iOS platforms since February, utilizing its powerful Prometheus Model and GPT-4.
Amidst the backdrop of dwindling web traffic and app installations in June, as per Sensor Tower and Similarweb data, this release comes at an opportune time for OpenAI. It’s worth noting that some users have voiced recent concerns about GPT-4’s performance, citing it as “slower and dumber.”
OpenAI, in response, has reassured users that they are actively working on updates for the APIs to enhance the overall experience.
