Saudi Scholar Asim al-Hakim Labels YouTube Earnings as Haram

Saudi scholar, Asim al-Hakim, who serves as the Imam of Jeddah Mosque, recently made a significant declaration regarding the earnings from YouTube, considering them haram.

YouTube Earnings: An Unsettled Debate

A Twitter user named Abdul Maqtadir sought clarification from Asim al-Hakim on whether earning from YouTube falls under the category of halal or haram. The response he received from the prominent scholar was clear – YouTube earnings are considered haram.

He stated the following:

From an Islamic perspective, earning from YouTube is not inherently forbidden, but it depends on the content that the YouTuber uploads. If a YouTuber uploads haram content (such as music, women, indecent conversations, obscenity, and immorality), then the income derived from it would be considered haram.
