PM Shehbaz Sharif Unveils PTA’s Temporary Mobile Registration System

In a momentous event today, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif unveiled the Temporary Mobile Registration System of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

Enhancing Connectivity for Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Visitors

This pioneering initiative aims to enhance convenience for overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting Pakistan. It allows them to register and utilize their personal mobile phones for a period of 120 days from their date of arrival, exempt from any duties and taxes.

Collaboration with MoITT, FBR & FIA

The development of the Temporary Mobile Registration System involved extensive collaboration with the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). These stakeholders worked together to devise a seamless system that can be utilized by visitors during each of their trips to Pakistan.

To take advantage of this facility, users can conveniently apply online by visiting the official website of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

During his address, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional connectivity facilities to all visitors. The goal is to ensure that they can remain connected throughout their stay in Pakistan.


During the launch ceremony, Syed Amin Ul Haq, the Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, expressed the following statement:

We are dedicatedly working to provide smooth ICT services across Pakistan and pledge to ensure and extend connectivity with ease and comfort to all those overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals who are visiting Pakistan.

On this momentous occasion, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, the Chairman of PTA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the stakeholders involved, including the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoIT), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), for their invaluable support.

Furthermore, the Chairman highlighted that PTA has implemented several consumer-centric initiatives and regulatory measures to guarantee the provision of high-quality ICT services across the country.
