Tragic Incident on GT Road, Rawalpindi: Multiple Casualties Reported

Earlier today, a devastating incident unfolded on Swan Bridge located on the GT Road, Rawalpindi. A truck loaded with cement bags lost control and collided with several cars, resulting in a catastrophic accident. The collision was so powerful that one car was flung off the bridge and fell into the ravine below, while the other vehicles were severely damaged. Media reports indicate that there have been multiple fatalities and numerous individuals are in critical condition as a result of this tragedy.

Traffic Disruptions and Slow Movement on GT Road

Following the accident, the traffic police temporarily closed off Swan Bridge from both sides to prevent congestion and further mishaps. Although the bridge has now been reopened, traffic flow, including inbound traffic from Bostan Road, Car Chowk, and High Court, is considerably slower due to the aftermath of the accident. Commuters are advised to expect delays and plan their journeys accordingly, taking alternate routes if necessary.

Chaos and Criticism Surround Administrative Response

The authorities have arrived at the scene and are working to restore order and manage the chaotic situation arising from the accident. However, the closure of Swan Bridge from one side has exacerbated the traffic situation on GT Road. Recent reports on social media indicate that the closure has particularly affected the traffic bound for DHA 1 and 2, causing significant difficulties for commuters. A traffic warden mentioned in a tweet that a section of the bridge has been damaged and is unable to bear the weight of heavy traffic, without specifying when or if the road will be reopened.
